Manchester United: LvG wanted by another employer

With Manchester United’s executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, arguably paralysed by the fear of making his next big decision as boss – in other words, stopping the rot by sacking Louis van Gaal – it might take the actions of another party to get the show back on the road at the club.

Because most now believe that Louis’s time at the club should be up but Woodward often resembles a rabbit in the headlights despite almost weekly defeats. The achingly obvious solution is to bring Jose Mourinho in – he will be snapped up soon if Manchester United don’t make a move – but Woodward persists with the sinking ship.

However, latest reports suggest that Louis could be offered an escape route which could suit all parties.

The Independent states:

Louis van Gaal latest: Manchester United manager wanted by Dutch FA this summer.

The man who managed the Netherlands to the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup is the favoured choice to become technical director overseeing the Dutch football centre of excellence.

Many observers assume that Manchester United will be the Dutchman’s last job and, publicly at least, he seems insistent on seeing out the final year of his contract.

But a move back to the Dutch team could be a great PR move for all concerned. Instead of being sacked Louis could answer the call of his nation which is currently in football crisis.

Van Gaal looks like an old man in a young man’s game at club level. But he could impart his wealth of knowledge onto the Dutch squad and set them back on track in the final throes of his great career.

Now wouldn’t that be a perfect move for all concerned?
