Manchester United are said to be keeping tabs on a young Brazilian sensation.
British media outlet, The Independent, reports:
Exclusive: The Old Trafford club have had an approach turned down by the youngster’s club, Flamengo
The report states that Manchester United tried to secure a first option on the player when he is permitted to leave his club Flamengo, but the club hasn’t agreed to those terms.
At just 16 the forward is regarded as the best prospect of the club who play at the famous Maracana stadium in Brazil.
He was viewed as one of the top performers in the annual Brazilian youth tournament this year – the Copinha U20 – and it’s easy to see why as he scored four goals and assisted five more in just six games.
The report states that Barcelona and Arsenal are also keen on the player who looks quick, and creative on the ball and obviously knows where the goal is.
Manchester United will surely look to restock their forward line over the next couple of seasons. While there is still great potency in their attack, the likes of Wayne Rooney and Zlatan are well into veteran status and still key members of the squad.
The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial surely represent the future of Manchester United but much more depth will be needed over the coming seasons and this kid looks like the real deal.
It obviously won’t be easy to win the race for one of the top talents in Brazil. Players like this regularly tend to prefer Spain as it offers more clement climate and a culture which is more aligned to Brazil.
But Manchester United remains one of the biggest clubs in the world and it’s about time that a top Brazilian made his name at Old Trafford.
