Manchester United: Midfielder transfer talks reportedly continue

Manchester United has been a club of revolving doors over the last few years. If David Moyes didn’t manage to complete much transfer business, Louis van Gaal went to town and Jose Mourinho is attacking the squad with similar relish.

He’s signed four players so far and will possibly add another in January.

But the most likely business right now could be sales.

The latest reports suggest that transfer talks for the sale of Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton are continuing with a deal still likely eminently possible.

British media outlet, The Express, writes:

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly continuing talks with Everton over a fee for Morgan Schneiderlin.

Jose Mourinho seems to be playing a brave game with the Everton target. Manchester United paid around £24m for the player and the report states that the club wants in excess of £20m from Everton even though the midfielder has shown poor form in his 18 months at the club.

But Everton manager Ronald Koeman worked with the Frenchman at Southampton where he demonstrated superb quality and forced his way into the international set up.

Schneiderlin has played 15 times for France since his debut in 2014 but didn’t figure at EURO 2016 on the back of his failed move to Manchester United.

He’s made 47 appearances for Manchester United over the course of a season and a half and scored the single goal. But many of those appearances have been off the bench and United fans have seldom seen the bite and authority that the player showed so regularly at Southampton.

He’s made just 8 appearances – again mainly off the bench – under Jose Mourinho and it is clear that if the price is right Manchester United will allow him to move to Everton.

United fans: is he worth keeping?
