Manchester United: Mourinho not happy?

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is already said to be unhappy about the lack of speed at which transfer deals are being concluded this summer, according to The Manchester Evening News.

Ed Woodward has been slated by many fans for his lack of success in the transfer market over the last three years and the pressure appears to be mounting again, as The MEN reports:

Manchester United manager Mourinho frustrated by transfer strategy

Jose Mourinho was hopeful Man Utd would clinch more transfers by now but Ed Woodward has clinched just one signing so far.

While this is a well-placed source, we would take the report with a pinch of salt. EURO 2016 and The Copa America makes transfers very hard to complete, as we have seen with most major clubs, and Manchester United may have to wait before they snare some of their central targets this summer.

We expect the second half of July to be a much busier period of the transfer window as EURO 2016 comes to an end and players focus on club matters again.

According to latest reports Manchester United are expecting to conclude deals for Armenian international midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the next week, and have already spent £30m on defender Eric Bailly.

Three deals of this size could hard be viewed as a lack of progress in the transfer market – especially given Manchester United’s tendency to leave deals late in the summer window.

In other transfer news, Manchester United are said to be preparing what will eventually be a world record bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. While TFF still expects him to end up at Real Madrid, we will keep our eyes on this one with particular interest.
