Are Manchester United signing the next Yaya Toure?

The elephant in the room at every Jose Mourinho interview or press conference right now continues, of course, to be the perennial speculation surrounding Paul Pogba. And it’s been a trying situation for all involved. In fact, we have to applaud Pogba himself for not letting the hype affect him adversely – if anything, he seems to be thriving on it.

As for TFF we have gone from disbelieving about the transfer, to uber excited about him joining The Premier League, to desperate for him to come, to really annoyed that the deal hasn’t been done, to seriously not caring anymore. As Mino Raiola said, there is just too much blah blah blah.

But TFF can’t help but think that if he does grace Manchester United and The Premier League, we could be about to see the next Yaya Toure.

At just 23 Pogba has time to fill out and is already trampling and running straight through opponents with his 6ft 3in frame. And not only does his physicality remind us of Yaya – but he also has those similar, ridiculous skill levels that the big man at Manchester City enjoys.

In his pomp, Yaya seemed to defy physics on an almost weekly basis. He’d score a ludicrous goal that compelled the viewer to replay the footage just to make sure that it actually happened. And he would play the game with the nonchalance of a kid in the playground.

Paul Pogba can become all that and perhaps even more at Manchester United. Because, if anything, Pogba has a greater engine that Toure as well as all the other attributes.

Manchester United lacked zip against Everton. Sure, it’s early doors and the season hasn’t even begun. But how they could use the driving talents of the French genius to put a serious title challenge together.
