Manchester United players who should most fear Paul Pogba arrival

Theguardian.com

So it’s official.

Manchester United have brought Paul Pogba back to the club in what fans hope will be the catalyst for a new era of unbridled success.

Certainly there is more positivity in the air than at any time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Not least because many believe that Pogba would never have returned to a side outside The Champions League had Jose Mourinho not been the boss.

But some will be apprehensive about their futures after the world record signing. TFF analyses the players with it all to lose.

Juan Mata

He’s one of the nicest footballers that we have ever witnessed. But he has never been a TFF favourite and, although undoubtedly talented, he doesn’t have the pace, power or athleticism to change games regularly in England.

Manchester United should offload him while they can get a good £20-25m.

Marouane Fellaini

Another David Moyes capture who has underwhelmed during his time at Manchester United. He’s just too much elbow and not enough craft.

He was also culpable for Leicester City’s equaliser at Wembley in The Community Shield.

But Jose does like giants and he may decide that Marouane is worth holding onto for one more season. But TFF would get rid now.

Ander Herrera

He’s had some sumptuous moments at Manchester United but he has tended to follow every top performance with a completely anonymous one.

Manchester United demands consistency from its players and Herrera will have direct competition from Pogba in that advanced midfield role in the 2 of a 4-2-3-1.

He’s perhaps got more chance of staying than Mata due to marginally more pace and physical presence. But it’s a make-or-break time for the Spaniard and he can’t afford to waste one minute of any game time that he gets between now and the end of August.

Manchester United fans: who do you think will leave the club as a consequence of Pogba’s arrival.
