The end-of-season rumour mill is already in full swing. Reportedly, Manchester United could take advantage of West Ham’s plight this summer by making a double swoop for midfielder Matheus Fernandes and forward Jarrod Bowen, as the Red Devils look to strengthen their squad ahead of their Champions League tilt next season.
West Ham’s Position Is Precarious
Heading into the final game of the season, West Ham are two points adrift of safety, and there is a very real possibility that the Hammers will be playing Championship football next season.
Relegation would likely mean a mass exodus, with many of their first-team players heading to the exit. Bowen and Fernandes are reportedly highly in demand this summer, with various clubs looking to acquire their signatures.

Neither player would likely remain in the English second tier when they had options in the English top flight, even captain Bowen, who is regarded as highly committed to the Irons’ cause.
There is a suggestion that Fernandes may well leave West Ham this summer, whether they are relegated or beat the drop.
Top Performers For West Ham
The interest in the pair is due to the fact that despite the team struggling for results, the pair have been among the team’s top performers this season.
Bowen has been consistently one of their better players in recent campaigns, too. The forward has scored eight times and produced ten assists this season, despite the team’s overall struggles.

United are not the only club believed to be interested in signing Bowen this summer, as Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool are both reported to hold an interest in signing the forward.
Portuguese international Fernandes has impressed in his general play, while scoring three goals and producing three assists for the Irons.
United also face competition for the signature of the 21-year-old Fernandes, with French media reporting that reigning European champions PSG are also interested in signing the youngster. The Portuguese contingent at the Parisian club may well help tip the balance on his next move.
