Manchester United: Positive Mkhitaryan injury news

Manchester United fans were devastated when they saw Henrikh Mkhitrayan crumple to the ground under a heavy challenge in the game against Tottenham.

When the stretcher was called for the player seemed doomed to bad luck in his Manchester United career.

He was, after all, finally showing the sort of form that made United fork out close to £30m for his services. Two beautiful goals in a week and the sort of incisive form which made him Bundesliga player of the year in 2016.

But the news of his injury isn’t too bad. Ankle problems can keep players out for months but the latest reports suggest that this problem is likely to heal in a couple of weeks.

That bastion of truth, The BBC, states with confidence that the player will be back for some of the Christmas schedule:

Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been ruled out until Boxing Day after injuring his ankle in their 1-0 win over Tottenham.

When TFF saw the slow motion replays it didn’t look like anything more than a painful turn of the ankle and we may even see him back in a Manchester United shirt sooner than Boxing Day. When the swelling goes down the player might find that there is no further damage than the bruising.

Born in the old Soviet Union, the 5ft 10in Armenia international has made 12 appearances for Manchester United and scored 2 goals.

Here are some of his best bits so far:
