Manchester United to sell 27-year-old

Reports in the British media over the last day have suggested that Manchester United may sell yet another player to Everton. This time it’s England international Chris Smalling who seems to have fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

British media outlet, The Daily Telegraph, reports:

Chris Smalling to be sold by Man Utd this summer – with West Ham, West Brom and Everton already interested

Smalling has just completed his seventh season at Manchester United where he has made 243 appearances. He’s scored a creditable 13 goals in that time and his height really helps him in the opposition penalty area. That’s just one of his several standout qualities.

On the flip side he sometimes looks as if he lacks the technique for the very top level of football.

He sometimes gets flustered under pressure and has made a few high profile howlers in his time at Manchester United.

Nevertheless he could be an excellent player for Everton as he’s mobile, quick and athletic. He’s definitely Premier League standard and at just 27 years of age he has a good five years left in the tank. Smalling has rarely suffered serious injury in his career and looks as if he could go on for years. He’d be an excellent signing for Everton and TFF thinks that a deal could well go ahead this summer.
