Manchester United starting XI with Ander Herrera

Manchester United are reportedly close to announcing the signing of 24 year old Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.

Reports this afternoon have suggested that the player could be in Manchester to seal the deal.

After failing to sign him, in bizarre circumstances, last summer Manchester United have moved quickly to sign the player at the second attempt. Some will believe that Herrera was signed after Manchester Untied failed to bring Cesc Fabregas to the club. The ex-Barcelona man moved to Chelsea last week.

Nevertheless Herrera will surely go some way to addressing the serious lack of creativity and invention in the midfield at Manchester United. After starting last season at Bilbao quietly he went on to become a driving force in the club’s push for The Champions League place that they ultimately achieved.

A quick thinking, silky and technically adroit footballer Herrera still has time to improve and could go on to become a regular for Spain with his new high profile club.

He will be the start of what should be an interesting summer of transfer activity at Old Trafford. We predict how Manchester United may line up at the start of next season with Herrera in the heart of the midfield.
