MANCHESTER UNITED VS ARSENAL PREVIEW IN THE LATEST TFF PODCAST

This story has been massively overhyped and it just shows what a ridiculous bubble the football world is.

But we suppose that it’s part and parcel of being role models for kids and in the public spotlight 24/7 as a Manchester United and England superstar. And it’s not as if professional players aren’t compensated for this.

But we think that if Rooney’s Manchester United form had been good this wouldn’t have been an issue. Indeed it could have been spun as positive PR for a player who happy to mix with delighted laymen.

But this event, twinned with his waning powers has become a media storm which Rooney could well do without right now.

It will be interesting to see if Rooney plays for Manchester United in their crucial game with Arsenal this weekend. What TFF feels is for sure is that Jose Mourinho will be selecting the player based on form and will not be swayed in the least by the fact that Rooney had a few drinks after the Scotland match.

But you could describe this whole incident as a storm in a wine cup.
