Reports: Manchester United willing to do huge swap deal for Pogba

Manchester United are willing to offer Matteo Darmian to Juventus in an attempt at doing a part exchange for the brilliant Paul Pogba, according to two British tabloid newspapers.

The Sun reports:

Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring French midfielder back to Old Trafford and will try part-exchange to land the Frenchman

And The Daily Star treads a similar path with:

MANCHESTER UNITED full-back Matteo Darmian is reportedly being used as a makeweight in a bid to secure the signing of Juventus superstar Paul Pogba.

26-year-old Darmian started his Manchester United career well and his statistics show that he made 39 appearances in all competitions. But those stats don’t tell the full story of a player who was marginalised by Christmas in his first campaign at the club.

He is a talented player but whether he has the mentality to play for a club like Manchester United is yet to be proven. He seemed to quickly lose confidence at United and whether has the sort of aggression that Jose Mourinho likes to see in his defenders remains to be seen.

There was a swirl of rumour yesterday that Real Madrid had entered the race for Pogba – bad news for some. But these stories would suggest that Manchester United are still in the running and Jose will surely pull out all the stops to sign top quality wherever possible this summer.

The report in The Sun states that Juventus have already made enquiries about Darmian and that Manchester United want to retrieve as much of the £12m that they paid for him as possible.
