Manchester United sweat over new superstar injury

It’s fair to say that Manchester United have had a disastrous run of injuries so far this season. Some sources are stating that United have had 25 different players on the sidelines at various points of the campaign.

And the latest couple of injury concerns are serious because they relate to top creatives. Angel di Maria has a hamstring problem and now Wayne Rooney is being sent for a scan after a reaction to the knock he sustained against Hull at the weekend.

Rooney crashed into the hoardings and took a heavy blow to his knee in the process. We initially assumed that he would run off the problem but now he needs a scan.

Louis van Gaal said:

“He will have a scan and then we will know more”

“I hope the injury is not so serious.”

Van Gaal did reassure fans, however, that the injury to Di Maria wasn’t so bad:

“Di Maria is not so serious, but he won’t play against Southampton,”

Unfortunately both players look set to miss the tough away trip to Southampton. It’s bad timing for Manchester United who were just starting to gain momentum after a poor start to their campaign. Losing arguably their two best players could put paid to their impressive run of four straight wins.

So can Manchester United beat Southampton without Di Maria and Rooney? Let’s have your thoughts.
