Manchester United target in a team of the year

TFF believe that it is ever more likely that Manchester United will bring the brilliant Swedish centre back, Victor Lindelof, to old Trafford in the January window.

Benfica have admitted that a deal could be possible after the latest quotes from Benfica manager Rui Vitoria:

“If it happens to a player we will be prepared and we will find solutions.

“There is always the prospect of someone leaving and it does not have implications on our work.

“It could be anyone. Many of them have a lot of quality and are attractive in the market, especially at their age.”

And to prove his worth the player has been named in the UEFA Champions League breakthrough team of the year for 2016.

The tough tackling 22-year-old has forced his way into the Sweden and Benfica sides over the last year and hardly put a foot out of place in what is becoming a really blossoming career.

But on top of his brilliant, John Terry like, defending there is a feeling that he could develop into more of a Rio Ferdinand type with his brilliant passing and desire to come forward with the ball at any opportunity.

Manchester United have proven that they have some really good centre backs over the last couple of months with Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo stepping into the fold brilliantly.

But the idea of Lindelof partnering the similarly aged Eric Bailly suggests that this could be a partnership which could last for a decade of Manchester United success.
