Manchester United linked with major deal for World Champion

Manchester United have been linked with a move for midfield pass master Toni Kroos.

World Champions Germany went crashing out of the World Cup this week in ignominious fashion. But Kroos was instrumental in their 2014 victory and Manchester United have long been linked with a desire to bring the player to Old Trafford.

And reports in Spain suggest that a move for the 28-year-old could be back on.

The Daily Mail writes:

Manchester United set to chase deal for Toni Kroos as Jose Mourinho looks to ‘bring out the best in Paul Pogba’

Speculation regarding a move to Old Trafford for Toni Kroos has resurfaced.

Their information comes from a report in Spain:

According to Spanish sports daily Diario AS, manager Jose Mourinho and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward have discussed Kroos while planning their squad moves for the 2018-19 campaign, with the former particularly keen on a deal.

The club has already made a big money midfield signing this summer in the shape of Brazil international Fred.

And, with Nemanja Matic a certain starter next season the signing of Kroos would leave a big question mark over the future of Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman is a fan favourite but hasn’t always hit the high notes at the club and seems to have been at odds with manager Jose Mourinho at times during his second stint at the club.

As for Kroos, he’s a seasoned international and a sensational passer of the ball.

The 28-year-old Real Madrid maestro has been with the Spanish side since 2014 and flourished. He’s played 190 times and scored 12 goals in one of Madrid’s most successful periods in their history.

He’s also played 86 times for Germany including that 2014 final win in Brazil.

TFF thinks that Manchester United will find it extremely difficult to prize a player in his prime away from The Bernabeu. But with a new manager coming in they may feel that this is the time to make the move. They may also have received information pertaining to the possibility of Kroos’ departure from the club.
