Manchester United’s most likely winter signing?

It has all gone rather quiet on the transfer front for Manchester United over the last week hasn’t it?

There has been the inevitable transfer rumour mill hype but nothing solid has come out from any of the broadsheet newspapers in Britain for sometime.

And when you look at the Manchester United squad you see real depth. Jose Mourinho may decide that he wants to move players on before he brings new ones in.

The likes of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger are surplus to requirements and Manchester United would love to get rid of these guys in January.

But Eric Bailly has gone to the African Cup of Nations and if Manchester United do you get defensive injuries they could be short at the back.

So perhaps the most likely player to join in January is still Victor Lindelof of Benfica. There appears to have been a lot of wrangling over the price of the player and Manchester United’s interest may have cooled to a degree. But the youngster has been left out of Benfica’s match day squads more than once of late, leading to renewed speculation about a move. It also seems clear that Jose Mourinho really likes this guy and could see him as a potential long-term partner for Eric Bailly.

And they could make an amazing partnership. Bailly is a hard man and brilliant stopper who doesn’t muck about – the classic no-nonsense defender.

Meantime Lindelof has more of a passing game and loves to come forward with the ball at his feet in an elegant manner.

He’s a very exciting player and TFF still thinks that he is the most likely one to sign in this transfer window.

Manchester United fans – do you need him?
