High flying Arsenal, who defeated arch rivals Spurs at the weekend, will collide against a low on confidence Man United team, who only managed to earn a single point vs the Saints.
At Old Trafford, United normally hold stronger cards but can they stop the destructive attack of Unai Emery’s side? Only time will tell.
In my view, there are three key battles that could decide the game between the Gunners and the Red Devils?
Arsenal’s offense vs United’s defense:
After Manchester City, Arsenal have got the best offense in the Premier League. So far, the north Londoners have netted 32 times in 14 league games. Star striker Aubameyang netted twice vs Tottenham and he is currently leading the goal-scoring charts with 10 goals.
Man United’s defense was the second best in the league last season but in the current campaign, they have been very poor at the back. They have already conceded 23 goals and have a GD of minus 1. At home, Mourinho may look to attack instead of parking the bus but he needs to formulate a strong defense if United are to avoid defeat tomorrow night.
De Gea vs Leno:
David De Gea is one of the best goal-keepers in the world but his form has been terrible this season. He did win the Golden Glove title last season but in the current season, he has only managed to keep just 2 PL clean sheets and needs to improve a lot.
Similarly, Arsenal’s summer signing Bernd Leno has been out of form as well. He has only managed to keep just a single clean sheet in 8 league outings and made a few key mistakes, the most recent one was the howler that gifted Spurs their first goal of the contest on Sunday.
The last time these two teams met at Old Trafford, De Gea’s individual brilliance was the main reason why United earned all three points (The Faithful MUFC).
The midfield battle:
The midfield battle is always a significant one in any game and Arsenal perhaps have the edge in that area as far as this season is concerned.
Arsenal’s summer signing Torreira has proved to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the league this season and his partner, Xhaka, has improved a lot in the central midfield. Moreover, Ramsey is doing great at the moment.
On the other hand, for United, record signing Pogba, Serbian defensive midfielder Matic and summer signing Fred have been inconsistent this season.
