Yes Please Jose: Manchester United want speedy left back and midfielder from Premier League rival

Manchester United look very much as if they are biding their time before a Europa League final. A 0-0 draw with Southhampton was very uninspiring and the Manchester United manager rested several of his top stars ahead of a crunch clash with Ajax next week.

Manchester United can no longer finish in the top four of course so all of their eggs for next season are in the Europa League basket at this point. And obviously the summer transfer spend will be dictated to by whether they get into the Champions League for next season.

But one of the qualities that has really separated Jose Mourinho from his predecessors is his success in the transfer market and another summer spend should put Manchester United much closer to the title next season.

The latest names to be linked in the British press are Danny Rose and Eric Dier of Tottenham. Spurs had a superb season and these two have been integral to the success of the club. The London outfit may struggle to hold on to some of their top stars this summer and Manchester United are supposedly circling the speedy Rose and the solid, Carrick-esque midfielder Eric Dier. British media outlet The Sun reports:

Eric Dier wants to quit Tottenham along with Kyle Walker and Danny Rose with both Manchester clubs circling

It would be sad to see these players leave Spurs, who are building a really amazing squad under the visionary leadership of Mauricio Pochettino. But such is the greed in football these days that money regularly trumps club loyalty.

And these have been problem positions for Manchester United over the last couple of seasons. The left back position has not consistently been filled. Luke Shaw is an excellent prospect but remains just off the boil and Michael Carrick needs a successor at the age of 36.

TFF believes that they would both be excellent signings. Manchester united fans – is he a better player than Shaw?
