Respected Source: Manchester United want to sell another LvG signing in January

Manchester United are looking to offload Matteo Darmian in January as Jose Mourinho continues to streamline a still bloated squad.

That’s according to British media outlet The Times, who report:

Manchester United will try to offload Matteo Darmian in the January transfer window after it emerged that José Mourinho has earmarked Timothy Fosu-Mensah as the club’s potential first-choice right back.

Darmian has looked like a rabbit in the headlights for much of his Manchester United career. After a promising start he was axed by LvG and the confidence seemed to visibly drain from his body.

The Italian international, capped 26 times by his country (1 goal), has played 39 times in total for Manchester United but most of those appearances have come off the bench or in lesser competitions.

Darmian started for Manchester United against Fenerbahce at Old Trafford in The Europa League on Thursday but he was his usual blend of good and bad with some decent interceptions but some poor passing and easy ceding of possession.

TFF strongly fancies him for a move back to Italy, a league which seems to suit his game, in order to reignite his career.

The report suggests that Timothy Fosu-Mensah is being groomed for the lead role at right-back in the coming years.

The Dutch youngster is still very raw and can be rash at times. But he’s one of the fastest players at the club and he has wonderful power, tenacity and athleticism for one of such tender years.

TFF believes that Fosu-Mensah has a big future at Manchester United.
