Manchester United want to sign midfield dynamo – selling club may reconsider

Looking at the Manchester United squad the most obvious area for improvement over the next couple of windows would have to be the centre of midfield. More specifically the defensive midfield area.

Michael Carrick still looks fit as a fiddle at the age of 35 but Jose Mourohno is a master planner and will want to bring somebody else in – particular if he sells the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger over the next six to 12 months.

And the latest player to be linked is a highly sought after 22-year-old French youth international.

Scottish media outlet, The Daily Record, reports:

Manchester United in three-way tussle to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko

The report states that given the interest in the player the selling club might reconsider their position about allowing the midfielder to leave in the January window.

The 22-year-old has been at Monaco for two and a half seasons since moving from Rennes in 2014. He’s played at every youth international level and surely will get his chance in the senior side, despite the competition for places in the midfield.

Because this is a player with similar qualities to N’Gole Kante. He’s strong, athletic, quick and ticks all the boxes for a combative but classy midfielder.

He’s played 67 times and scored 4 goals for Monaco in a period where he has established himself in the side and he looks very much like the sort of player who Jose Mourinho would like to sign for the Manchester United midfield – namely an all-action winner.

Manchester United fans: could this be the perfect successor to Michael Carrick?
