£55m Chelsea bid reported

Chelsea have reportedly made a huge bid for the diminutive midfielder Marco Verratti according to latest reports in the British press.

The Sun reports this morning that Antonio Conte is waiting little time in the continued evolution of his squad ahead of next season, despite only winning the title a few days ago. They say:

SunSport understands that the Premier League champions have made an offer of £55million to Paris Saint Germain for the Italy midfielder.

The 24-year-old midfielder who was born in Pescara in Italy was one of the most exciting players in Serie A before his move to France in 2012.

He made his way up through the Italy youth ranks before making his debut in 2012 and has since gone on to play 21 games and score a solitary goal for his country.

Not a prolific goalscorer, Verratti has played 198 games for Paris St Germain over the last five years and scored six goals.

But what he lacks in goalscoring feats he more than makes up for with his technique and creativity. This is a player of the highest quality on the ball. He makes things happen, rarely gives the ball away and as such you could liken him to Paul Scholes or Andrea Pirlo.

Chelsea may be looking for a pass master to replace the veteran Cesc Fabregas – he could well leave Stamford Bridge this summer despite an excellent end to the campaign. Verratti could be the perfect replacement for the next five or six years as Chelsea look to conquer Europe having done so in England.

Chelsea fans – too much money? Or is he worth it?
