Report: 79 Cap maestro keen on Real Madrid move

We are used to seeing Real Madrid make statement signings every year but the show has been somewhat stolen this summer by rivals Manchester United, who have brought Zlatan and Paul Pogba to the club.

But there is still time and while Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane seems quite confident with the squad he has, he may be interested to hear reports that an ex-Madrid player would love to move back to El Bernabeu.

Because German media outlet Bild reckons that Mesut Ozil is keen to return to Spain. The Independent writes:

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil would jump at the chance to return to his former club Real Madrid, according to a report in German publication Bild.

The playmaker, who has 79 caps and 20 goals for Germany, left Real Madrid for Arsenal in 2013. There he has played 117 times and scored 20 goals. He is loved by the fans but he hasn’t yet signed a new contract with the club and is perhaps undecided about where his future lies.

At 27 he has one more major contract in him and Real Madrid still have time to do some serious business in this window.

Having sold Jese to PSG this summer there may be a creative opening in the side, particularly with constant speculation about the future of James Rodriguez.

A deal of this size may be tricky to execute this late in the day but if any club is prepared to throw money at a situation it is Real Madrid.

And we do feel that they may have one more big splurge up their sleeve before the window closes at the beginning of September.

Let’s see some of Mesut’s best moments since he moved to England. Real Madrid fans: would you be open to his return?
