Tottenham have been a little sluggish in their transfer activity so far this summer but we still believe that Mauricio Pochettino has bought well by reinforcing the midfield and attack with good players.
You have to imagine that other players will be signed before September though and latest reports suggest that a bid may be forthcoming. Respected French media outlet, L’Equipe, reports (via BBC):
Tottenham are prepared to bid £13m for Sporting Lisbon and Portugal midfielder Adrien Silva, 27, who is also wanted by Everton. (L’Equipe – in French)
The 5ft 9in, 27-year-old midfielder has been at Sporting Lisbon since 2007 with a couple of loan spells in that time. He was born in France but has made 14 appearances for Portugal since his debut in 2014. He went to EURO 2016 and played the full 120 minutes against Croatia in the round of 16.
At club level he he has really come to the fore as a goalscoring midfielder in the last three seasons with 9 goals in 33 games, 10 goals in 40 and 8 strikes in 31 games over the last three years.
While TFF believes that Tottenham could most use another top winger at this point it’s all about scoring goals at the end of the day and this guy looks full of them. Quite where he would fit into a team which already has so much attacking talent is questionable but Pochettino is clearly trying to increase the depth of his squad for the rigours of the domestic and European campaigns.
Let’s see some of Adrien Silva’s better moments for his club. Tottenham supporters – a wise addition?
