Newcastle make offer for international – report

Having not quite continued with their ridiculously strong form from the start of the season, Newcastle will surely be looking to invest again in January to bolster their chances of getting back into the Premier League without the need for a play off.

And latest reports suggest that they could get a really interesting player from Everton on loan.

The Newcastle Chronicle states:

Newcastle transfers: Magpies submit loan offer for Everton’s Tom Cleverley

With Rafa Benitez looking to strengthen out wide this January former Manchester United man fits the bill at St James’ Park

Cleverley, who has played 13 times for England, never lived up to the expectations put on him from his early career at Manchester United. But he’s had a decent time at Everton with 42 appearances and two goals in a season and a half.

Now in his mid 20s it is clear that he is not going to be an England regular or a world-class talent.

But he would bring something to a side like Newcastle. He’s a good passer of the ball, a natural athlete and a real team player.

He could definitely do some damage in the Championship and perhaps bring to bear more of the old attacking flair that he used to show in his early days at United.

It could be a really interesting signing for Newcastle and although Cleverley wouldn’t expect to walk straight into the first team he would surely get more minutes than he is currently seeing at Everton.

Newcastle fans – would this be a really good signing or is Cleverley not suited to championship football?
