Not Griezmann: Manchester United readying £85m bid – report

Manchester United look poised for another major signing this summer as they look to add goals to a solid supporting cast. And latest reports in England suggest that they could be about to make a huge bid for a Premier League star.

British media outlet, The Daily Star, reports:

The Old Trafford outfit are ready to hijack his proposed switch to Stamford Bridge with an £85m bid.

Lukaku has had another fine season and, despite the fact that Jose Mourinho let the player go when he was at Chelsea, the Belgian International does seem to tick many of the boxes as a Mourinho style player.

He’s a powerful number nine who wears down defences and scores goals for fun. One area that could be of concern is that Lukaku arguably lacks the sort of mobility and movement associated with many top modern strikers.

TFF also wonders whether he has the sort of technique commensurate with the price tag that is being put around his neck. Lukaku would certainly score goals for Manchester United but would he make the difference in the top games in Europe against the best defences?

Lukaku has scored 25 goals in 37 games this season to continue his highly impressive form in Premier League football. He has 54 in 108 now at a ratio of exactly one goal every two games.

And at international level he’s hit a very decent 20 in 56 games.

Manchester United fans: would this be a good marquee signing this summer or would you rather see the lion’s share of the cash go elsewhere?
