Not Mignolet: Liverpool’s Best Player of 2016

Liverpool are close but no cigar yet. They have made great strides under Jurgen Klopp and there is now a sense of inevitability about their matches – especially against lesser opposition at Anfield.

Because they guarantee to create lots of chances in what is the most free flowing side since Suarez and Sterling were battering sides on the counter.

With such a positive year behind them it’s hard to pinpoint one player as head and shoulders above the rest. But TFF gives you our shortlist and the winner. We think that most of you will agree that it has to be Simon Mignolet.

Sadio Mane

He’s only at the club for 4 months or so but he has improved the first team massively. His pace and end product have sharpened Liverpool’s attack no end and he could easily be viewed as the signing of the season so far in the Premier League.

Roberto Firmino

Always looked like a talented lad who could score goals. But, when he first came to Liverpool he didn’t seem to fit into any one position perfectly. Actually, his adaptability has gone in his favour and he can perform equally well anywhere in the attack.

But he took Benteke’s place in the team last year and became Liverpool’s brilliant false 9 – a constant whirr of motion and industry with a fantastic touch and ability to makes thing happen. What a signing.

LIVERPOOL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Philippe Coutinho

Few can argue with the fact that the Brazilian has been the outstanding performer of the year for the Reds.

Before his injury he was enjoying possibly the best form of his career and Liverpool were a truly frightening side to watch.

Without him they are still impressive but when he returns, TFF feels that Liverpool will make a real push or the title.

Pace, precision and regular genius – Coutinho would walk into any side in Europe.
