€125m: Paul Pogba’s agent in England to discuss Manchester United transfer according to respected Italian media report

Latest reports from Italy suggest that Mino Raila, the agent of Paul Pogba, is in England to discuss a potential world record transfer of the Frenchman to Manchester United.

Respected Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sky Sports) says:

Paul Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola is in England to hold discussions with Manchester United over his client’s proposed move to Old Trafford, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Gazzetta claim United will offer Juventus €125m (£104.7m) for Pogba, while a €12m (£10m) per season deal will be tabled in an attempt to lure the 23-year-old away from Turin.

Manchester United have been showing signs of wanting to make a marquee capture for a few years now, to strengthen their playing hand and make a statement to the world that they are indeed one of the very big boys.

But, so far, deals for players like Neymar, Gareth Bale and Ronaldo have eluded them.

Paul Pogba may not be in quite that class yet but, at just 23, he has time on his side and could be exactly the sort of capture who can springboard Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United back to the top table in The Premier League and in Europe.

There is still a sense that Real Madrid could wade in to proceedings and the allure of Spain may be too much for Pogba to resist.

But he does have two big contracts left in him so perhaps Manchester United’s desire to get this one done could get them over the line for four years at least.

Pogba is a stallion of a player. Tall, elegant and dynamic. He has the self-belief to career through whole teams of players with his dribbling skills and vision.

He’s a great striker of the ball and Manchester United fans will hope that he can develop into the same sort of influence as Yaya Toure was in his prime at neighbours Manchester City.

It would obviously be a massive deal for the club and Manchester United might even consider themselves favourites for the title if they can complete this transfer.

We shall of course keep you updated.
