Potential Key Player: Manchester United wait in the wings to sign sublime young talent

Manchester United continue to be linked with the sublime young talent that is Reece Oxford.

The Daily Mail reports that Jose Mourinho has monitored the form of the 17-year-old as recently as the last few weeks and that he also sent his Manchester United scouts to see the defender in action in The EURO U19 Championships.

Mourinho apparently sees Oxford as having huge potential and The Mail continues:

The Portuguese has identified him as a potential key player for the future.

But the report also states that, having started his club’s first match at The Olympic Stadium, Oxford is keen to come back to the negotiating table with The Hammers.

With just two years left on his contract talks have not progressed of late and the teenager seems keen to stay for now.

Having also started The Hammer’s first game of last season against Arsenal – in a fixture where the youngster looked as if he had been in the team for years – huge things were expected of the centre back.

But he didn’t kick on and that led to rumours of a potential move.

And with John Stones off to City Manchester United may still see Oxford as a long-term option for the defence, a potential successor to Rio Ferdinand and the ball-playing partner for Eric Bailly.

But he’s clearly not ready for that stage yet and needs to gain some more experience at his current club.

Let’s see some of his best moments in his young career.
