Manchester United scouted superstar again this week – is he the answer?

Manchester United scouts were reportedly in Monaco this week to covet the wonderful attacking talents of this young French team.

According to a report in ESPN this week:

Man United scout Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko – sources

Bakayoko is a brilliant powerhouse of a midfielder and it will be a real struggle for Monaco to keep him out of the clutches of the elite sides in the world this summer. Because, in many ways, he is the perfect modern midfielder in the N’Golo Kante mould.

But the real jewel in the crown of this sensational side is striker Kylian Mbappe. At 18 we should be talking about him as a precocious talent who should be used sparingly and has to learn his trade over time.

But age doesn’t seem relevant here. Because the reported Manchester United target is deciding big games on a regular basis already.

He’s got the power of a footballer in his pomp and the pace of a greyhound. He seems to spot space naturally and is scoring freely in his breakthrough campaign with 17 in 31 this season. Perhaps he will suffer second season syndrome as so many do when defenders work out their game.

But this is surely a superstar in waiting and Manchester United could be the perfect destination.

Mbappe will have the likes of countrymen Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial to help him bed in. And with Zlatan reaching retirement age, Mbappe has the potential to be fast-tracked straight into the starting line up.

Manchester United fans: can Mbappe be United’s next great striker?
