Real Madrid confident that they will finally get their man – report

Real Madrid are increasingly confident that they are about to win the race for the highly coveted talents of Valencia playmaker Andre Gomes, according to reports in Spain.

Popular Spanish media outlet, Marca, reports:

From the moment Euro 2016 came to an end, Real Madrid have been working hard to make Valencia’s Andre Gomes a Blancos player.

Los Che had been hoping to hold for a transfer fee of around €65 million but the Champions League holders hope to tie up the midfielder for closer to €50m up front with around €5-€10m in performance related extras.

And The Daily Mail reports:

Real Madrid believe they are favourites to sign Valencia’s Andre Gomes

The 22-year-old Portugal international has played 13 times for Portugal already in his short career and took part in his country’s triumphant EURO 2016 campaign in France this summer.

He’s reportedly been targeted by a number of the top clubs in Europe, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona, but Marca thinks that Real Madrid will finally win this duel having originally attempted to sign the player last summer.

And this could also have ramifications in the Paul Pogba deal as it is hard to imagine Los Blancos signing the Frenchman if they get this deal for Gomes over the line.

Stranger things have happened, especially at Madrid. But they are similar players and Real may have to offload some stars if they are to mastermind both pricey purchases.

Gomes has played 77 times for Valencia and scored 9 goals. He stands at 6ft 2in but has wonderful feet and plays the game with almost effortless ease.
