Real Madrid: Huge offer mooted for 48 cap international

Real Madrid could make a move for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba and would be willing to offer a huge sum for his services.

That’s according to British media outlet, The Daily Mail, which writes:

Real Madrid could offer up to £53m to snap up Bayern Munich’s David Alaba as Carlo Ancelotti eyes swoop for Raphael Varane.

Quite what Real Madrid fans would think about the second part of that headline is open to debate. TFF has always been massive fans of Varane and his future is surely going to be a golden one regardless of which club he is playing for.

But Alaba is a rock who would improve most teams. The 5ft 11in 24-year-old is an adaptable and intelligent defender who can also play in midfield.

His main position is at left-back but Marcelo will surely expect to keep his place in the team whoever arrives.

So perhaps he may find himself partnering Sergio Ramos in the centre of the defence, if a move went ahead.

David Alaba has played 48 times for Austria and scored a notable 11 goals.

He’s been at Bayern Munich for 7 seasons and played 46 times last term with 2 goals scored.

He might be described as a complete defender. He has good feet, excellent reading of the game and has decent pace. He’s a threat from set-pieces as his goal scoring record suggests and, at 24, he could be part of the long-term plans of a Real Madrid defence which is on the ‘veteran’ side.

Let’s see the player at his best. Real Madrid fans: would he be worth that sort of money?
