Real Madrid: Major bid reported

Real Madrid have made a major bid for reported Manchester City target Theo Hernandez according to latest reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail reports:

Real Madrid deal blow to Manchester City’s pursuit of Atletico defender Theo Hernandez by tabling £20m bid

Possibly seen as the long term replacement for the sensational Marcelo, Hernandez is still just 19 years of age.

But he has great potential and has sprung into life over the last year.

The 6ft 1in France U20 international (three caps and one goal) hasn’t yet represented Atletico at senior level. He was playing for their B team last term and was sent out on loan to Alaves in the summer having just extended his contract to 2021.

And there he has been brilliant with 22 buccaneering appearances in a breakthrough campaign.

He’s very quick and loves to attack the left flank as well as being a solid defender. But it’s that offensive talent which Real Madrid are surely interested in.

With veterans on the flanks Manchester City will be looking to restock their fullback positions over the summer. But they may well miss out on this one as the allure of the Bernabeu is usually to much for youngsters with great potential to resist.

The flip side is that Real Madrid’s current left back, Brazilian international Marcelo, is still only 28 and at the top of his game. Henrnandez will be aware that he would almost certainly have to bide his time or even go out on loan if he did sign for Los Blancos this summer.

Real Madrid fans – is Hernandez of a level where he can go straight into the first team or his he currently too raw?
