The career of Martin Odegaard has progressed as many expected when he signed for Real Madrid at just 16 – slowly.
With so much competition for places it was going to take something extremely special for the Norwegian international to find a quick route into the first-team. And so it has transpired with Odegaard only playing once so far for Los Blancos since he transferred from Strømsgodset in 2015.
The latest news suggests that the 9 cap international could be lined up for a loan move to French club Rennes in January.
British media outlet, The Daily Mail, reports:
Martin Odegaard set to complete Rennes loan switch in January…
The report also states that recently leaked documents have revealed that the player was signed by Real Madrid for £9m and he gets a whopping £40,000 bonus every time he plays for the first team.
TFF feels that, more than anything, the kid needs game time at this point in his career. Too many precocious talents go to waste by moving to a big club too early their career. Odegaard isn’t even 18 yet and there is little chance of him becoming a regular at Real Madrid this season.
So a loan deal would appear to suit all parties and this seems the most likely outcome in January.
Let’s see some of the better moments of the youngster in action.
