With the future of Arsene Wenger continuing to occupy many tabloid column inches it’s difficult to know precisely who is making the transfer decisions at this point in time at Arsenal.
But latest reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal have made a bid for the services of the brilliant centre back Daniele Rugani. Calciomercato.com reports:
Sources: Juventus rejected €30m Arsenal offer for defender
The 22-year-old Italy international, who has won two caps for Italy since his debut against France in September 2016, found his way into the Juventus first team last season with 21 appearances for the Old Lady. His form continued to improve this season with impressive statistics of three goals in nine games in Serie A.
The 6ft 3in stopper is a powerful presence in the defence despite his tender age but also has lovely technique – an aspect of play that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be all too aware of.
Arsenal’s back line has looked pretty solid this season with Laurent Koscielny and Shkrodan Mustafi forming a good understanding at the heart of the back line.
But there remains a sense that Arsenal need more steel running through their spine if they are to mount a serious challenge for silverware over the next few years.
It remains to be seen whether, or for how long, Arsene Wenger will be trusted to oversee the progression of Arsenal after a brilliant tenure which has stalled since the move to The Emirates.
Let’s see Rugani in action.
Arsenal fans: a good buy?
