Chelsea’s system is working so well under Antonio Conte that they will surely stick with that 3-4-3 in the foreseeable future.
It allows them to keep their width with the wing backs but also boss the midfield in the bigger games.
One thing that this system does do for sure is take a lot out of the wing backs.
They have to work in duel roles, defending when necessary, but also bursting forward to provide the ammo for Diego Costa et al.
So it is well within the realms of possibility that Chelsea will invest in cover for Alonso and Moses in the coming months.
Both have been absolutely superb this season for Chelsea but the Blues don’t have many alternatives if either gets injured or tired.
And the latest to be linked with a move to Chelsea is tailor made for that role.
British media outlet, The Sun, reports that Chelsea will beat Arsenal the signature of a dynamic young wide man. They say:
Chelsea set to pip Arsenal in race to sign Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez
Premier League leaders make contact with Swiss full-back as they plot transfer window move to boost title bid
Anyone who has seen this 5ft 11in, 24-year-old left back will know that he has real talent. He’s a buccaneering full back with no fear, who simply loves to get forward.
He’s great on the ball and really quick when he gets those long legs into full flow.
His final ball is excellent, he can beat a man and score the odd goal. He’s a tireless wide man who would suit Chelsea’s style.
He’s played 43 times for Switzerland already and 157 times for German club Wolfsburg with a remarkable 20 goals scored.
Chelsea fans: the perfect addition?
