Report: Everton want to sign up to 5 players in January – who are they?

What a nice headline to wake up to on a boxing day morning.

After years of prudence in the market due to financial constraints Everton look financially strong again and latest reports suggest that they may be trying to sign up to five players in the January transfer window.

British media outlet, The Sun, suggests:

RONALD KOEMAN wants up to five new faces in the January window.

Yet the Everton chief admits he will struggle to bring anyone in if they are also targets for Premier League big guns.

WHO ARE THEY?

Memphis Depay

Having watched this player many times at Manchester United we feel strongly that he could be a world-class talent. What is lacking in his game is consistency and Ronald Koeman could be the man to coax this out of the forward. Memphis could turn out to be a brilliant signing for Everton.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Another potentially top class player and another man who seemed to lose his confidence completely on the big stage at Old Trafford. He could thrive at Everton.

Virgil van Dijk

The manager’s affiliations to Southampton and the player could help him get a deal across the line. But if the Dutchman wants to go to Manchester City there is little Everton can do.

Ademola Lookman

The young Charlton winger is an excellent prospect and has been looked at by several top clubs. But he’s been linked to Everton for a while and perhaps this is the most likely signing of the January window.

Alexander Isak

At just 17 years of age the Stockholm forward is very much a player of raw potential right now and wouldn’t be going straight into the first team. But he looks like an excellent long-term prospect.
