Report – Man Utd told £133million will secure signing

Manchester United have been linked with Spanish international and Barcelona defender Jordi Alba in the past and once again the left back is in the lime light.

According to Sport, the 29-year-old defender’s current deal will expire in 2020 and the Catalan giants are looking to extend this contract keeping in mind his top performances for the club.

The Spanish outlet have mentioned that the Red Devils and Juventus are interested in signing the speedy left back. However, Barca have made it clear that to secure Alba’s signing, the above mentioned clubs will have to activate the release clause of 150 million euros (£133million) present in his contract.

Stats:

The La Roja defender has been brilliant for the five time European Champions in the current campaign. He has been solid at the back and also proved to be effective in the attacking third.

So far, he has featured in 14 games in all competitions this season and directly contributed in 8 goals (2 goals and 6 assists).

Scenario at Old Trafford:

Mourinho mainly used Ashley Young, a natural winger, in the LB position last season. This time around, Luke Shaw has impressed and earned his place in the first team.

The former Chelsea boss has also got players like Dalot and Rojo, who can effectively play in the left back position. In such a scenario, United really do not need to splash the cash to sign someone like Alba, who is going to cost a lot.
