Report: Manchester United’s Next Best Paid Player?

This is a story which looks as if it will run and run over the coming weeks as the transfer window rolls into full swing.

And the latest from British media outlet, The Daily Mail, suggests that things are looking promising for the transfer of Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United.

There were rumours that the player wasn’t so keen on coming to the colder climate of England and ESPN reported along those lines again in the latest news cycle when they stated:

Griezmann, sources have told ESPN FC, is attracted by the prospect of signing for United, but the Frenchman still has reservations about such a move

But The Daily Mail suggests that Manchester United will have to break the bank if they want to go ahead with the move:

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho must break the bank to sign £155million Antoine Griezmann

Manchester United will have to make Antoine Griezmann the Premier League’s best-paid player if they are serious about signing him this summer.

With the future of Zlatan looking uncertain, after a cruciate knee ligament injury which could spell the end of his top level career, Manchester United will surely be in the market for more goals this summer.

Marcus Rashford has again shown his class in recent weeks and could be crucial to Manchester United’s run in. And Anthony Martial is once more showing the sort of form which encouraged the club to part with millions in 2015. But United currently lack a guaranteed 30 goals a season man.

And Griezmann is about as ruthless a finisher as they come. He’s consistently been one of the top scorers in La Liga through his career and he may feel that now is the perfect time to test himself in a new league. And with Manchester United looking set to return to their best, Griezmann could prove to be the final piece in the jigsaw.
