Report: Real Madrid eye another Premier League star?

Much to the chagrin of many a football supporter, it doesn’t take too long for the transfer rumours to start up again after the summer window closes.

But, with so many top clubs around Europe showing inconsistent form this autumn, perhaps we can expect a busier winter transfer window than usual.

Real Madrid are in the news again today with some areas of the media suggesting that they have now trained their sights on the brilliant Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.

The Guardian is among the rumour mongers for this one, saying that Hazard could replace one of the big hitters at The Bernabeu next summer.

It’s not a deal that Chelsea are likely to want to happen. Hazard has been the top performer at the club for a couple of years, assisting and scoring goals, as well as generally putting the opponent on the back foot.

But there is always a worry, with foreign imports from south of England, that they may eventually want to sample Spain.

Certainly Hazard has the sort of technique which would go down a treat in La Liga and with Cristiano Ronaldo now into his thirties you wouldn’t put it past Real Madrid to make a move.

At 24 the Belgium international, who already has 60 caps and 10 goals to his name for his country, is the complete forward. He has ironed out the inconsistencies in his game to become a persistent menace to every opponent that he faces.

He has that rare ability to beat a man with the ball at his feet and his pace is matched by the inordinate shooting power that he demonstrates weekly.

Hazard is comfortably good enough to play for Real Madrid. The real question, longer-term, is whether he fancies a move.
