Reports: Superb potential signings for Tottenham

With just two dozen hours to go until the window opens Tottenham have been linked with two superb players.

These reports have been in several big publications but Eurosport coins it all nicely by saying:

Spurs are preparing a double swoop for Ross Barkley and Isco

One would imagine that they could easily play in the same team despite their similarities. Both may describe their best position as number ten but are essentially dynamic midfielders with pace who can play through the middle or out wide and would be terrific in a 4-3-3.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino bought several workmanlike players in the summer and although the likes of Wanyama, Sissoko and Janssen have beefed up the squad, Spurs still look as if they could use more footballing inspiration.

Isco has been superb for Real Madrid. Even though he hasn’t nailed down a first-team spot ahead of the likes of Ronaldo, James and Bale, he’s always had decent game time and made 17 appearances so far this season. Last year he played 43 games and 53 for the two years prior to that.

Isco also has 17 caps for Spain and is still only 24. He’d been a brilliant purchase for Tottenham.

As for Barkley, we all know what he can do. The problem is that he doesn’t always seem to know where the ON switch is for his genius.

He scored 12 goals in 48 games last season and has hit 3 in 17 so far this term. But his form has again been up and down.

Nonetheless Tottenham would really set tongues wagging if they signed these two and TFF thinks that they would both be inspired purchases.

Spurs fans: do you feel that there is any chance of getting one or both of these deals over the line in January?
