Latest reports in the British media suggest that Manchester United are interested in signing the brilliant Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer. The Frenchman worked with Jose Mourinho in his time at Los Blancos but he still hasn’t cemented his place in the team despite some excellent performances over the last few years.
Sky Sports reports:
Manchester United are interested in signing the Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, Sky sources understand.
Varane is a Rolls-Royce defender who would be the perfect ball playing centre half to partner Eric Bailly.
Rio Ferdinand himself said a couple of years ago that Varane is one of the best defenders in the world and TFF completely agrees. He’s got similar skill levels to Ferdinand and can make a fool out of opposition strikers.
He has played 35 times for France and scored two goals since his debut in 2013 and is still only 24 years of age so has his the best years of his career ahead of him.
He’s been at Real Madrid for six seasons now since his move from Lens in 2011.
He has made 137 appearances and scored 10 goals for the Spanish giants and also appeared 37 times last season and scored 4. Some of those appearances were from the bench and he still isn’t seen as a nailed on starter in every game for the club.
Manchester United would be doing extremely well to sign the player and we believe that he’d be the perfect partner for the Ivory Coast international Bailly.
Manchester United fans – can Varane be the next big thing at Old Trafford??
