Rumour: Manchester United to sign defensive Rolls-Royce for £60m?

Manchester United are pretty well provided for in the centre of defence but few would be surprised if they signed another centre back this summer to complement the burgeoning talents of Ivory Coast International Eric Bailly.

There has been a lot of talk about the possibility of Manchester United re-signing their old star Michael Keane from Burnley this summer.

The 24-year-old has one year left on his contract and is apparently being coveted by several Premier League suitors. But reports in Spain over the weekend suggested Manchester United may turn their attention to Marquinhos, the brilliant Brazilian who currently plies his trade at PSG.

The Daily Star passes this one on:

It’s claimed Chelsea have turned to Sanchez because top target Marquinhos is heading to Manchester United.

Sport report that the Paris St-Germain defender will join United for £60m (€70m).

While Keane would be a solid addition to Manchester United TFF believes that Marquinhos would be a far better acquisition.

He would be the perfect compliment for the rugged Eric Bailly and offer the ball playing presence alongside the Ivory Coast man. It would be a hark back to the days of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand who served Manchester United so well for almost a decade of unbridled success.

The 23-year-old who can also play at right back has made 17 appearances for Brazil since his debut in 2013. He’s also been an elegant ever present for PSG when fit since his move to the club in 2013. He is currently on 155 appearances and a creditable 13 goals for the French giants since he made the move for seasons ago.
