Sacre Bleu: Arsenal make €100m Bid – report

Everytime Arsene Wenger gets a new contract or the summer comes around we tend to get sound bites from the tabloids about how they’re going to invest in A-list stars in the transfer window.

But perhaps they are finally about to put their money where their mouth is because the latest reports in France suggest that Arsenal have made a €100 million bid for the sensational young striker Kylian Mbappe.

L’equipe, a highly respected French media outlet, reports:

Les Gunners auraient même formulé une première offre d’environ 100M€ pour le jeune international français!

The Gunners would have even made a first offer of about € 100M for the young French international

It seems that all the elite clubs in Europe are keen on this player even though he’s only had one really big season so far in his young career. Still only 18 it’s amazing that so many clubs seem prepared to spend so much money on a player they clearly see as a dead cert.

He has scored 26 goals in 44 games for the club this season in their surprise March to the Champions League semi-final and the French title. And his overall record for the club is 27 goals in 58 games. So with only one goal in 14 appearances for the club in the previous season you can see that he’s exploded onto the scene in the last term. Will he suffer second season syndrome? Well Arsenal don’t seem to think so and he does look to TFF like a young Thierry Henry.

Arsenal surely needs to break through their salary and transfer ceiling this summer if they really want to compete with the top teams and perhaps this would be a move in the right direction.

Arsenal fans – do you have a realistic chance of snaring him?
