Spanish Media: Arsenal may be closer to signing Khedira

Arsenal fans are getting used to signing top players once more.

After the brilliant addition of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona last week they seem to be close to repeating the trick with another La Liga star – this time it’s Sami Khedira.

Marca reports Wednesday that Arsenal are one step closer to bringing the brilliant box-to-box man to the club by settling on a fee.

Marca says:

Agreement with Arsenal for Khedira

Real Madrid and Arsenal have almost reached an agreement with the Premier League side prepared to pay around €25 million for the international, whose value has increased during the World Cup.

Personal terms could still be an issue a the player is not going to come cheap. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger doesn’t like to pay over the odds. But with Khedira playing brilliantly for a triumphant German national side at The World Cup his stock is currently very high.

That may be tempered but he fact that he’s been out with a serious injury for the best part of a year. But he showed no signs of the injury in Brazil where he was one of Germany’s stand out performers.

We think that, if it gets done, it will be an even better deal for Arsenal than the one for Sanchez. Arsenal need a midfield general and they don’t come much better than Khedira.
