Manchester United have been linked with several defensive reinforcements over the last month and the latest is another product of an exciting generation of young Benfica talent.
British media outlet, The Mirror, states:
Manchester United ready to launch a £35million bid for Benfica defender Nelson Semedo
Talks are understood to have taken place between the two clubs over a deal for Portugal right-back Semedo
The 5ft 9.5in 23-year-old has played for Portugal once since his debut in 2015 and has been likened in style to Dani Alves. If he can get anywhere near to that level in his career then Manchester United could be about to pull off a real coup in the transfer market. Because they haven’t had a settled right back for a long time and they could surely use one.
He too is a right-back but looks more like a winger with his style of play. He simply loves to maraud forward down that right flank and seems to offer more penetration and a better final ball than Manchester United’s current incumbent, Antonio Valencia.
Valencia is having one of his best seasons at the club but Jose Mourinho’s perfect side will surely include more of a specialist in that position eventually.
Semedio made his breakthrough at Benfica last season and has carried on where he left of with a solid campaign so far in which he has cemented his position as the number one right-back at the club.
Manchester United fans: is this the signing to sort out the future of the right-back slot?
