Tottenham have agreed a fee of around £92.5m plus £7.5m in add-ons for Newcastle and Italy central midfielder Sandro Tonali. The Italian is expected to sign a deal which will see him receive a reported £275,000 per week.
Tonali keen to work with compatriot De Zerbi
Aside from the chunky wages, another attraction for Tonali to move to north London is believed to be the presence of compatriot Robert De Zerbi. The Italian is a highly rated tactician regarded as an innovator.
De Zerbi helped turn things around at Tottenham last season when the north London club looked set for the drop. Tonali was reportedly also attracting the interest of Manchester City, but it was Spurs who managed to get the deal over the line.
Tottenham have had a busy summer so far
Spurs have enjoyed a busy summer so far, having already brought in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka on free transfers and Jan van Hecke from Brighton for a fee of around £52m.
They also recently agreed a club-record £85m fee for West Ham’s highly-rated young Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes, who was another player reportedly attracting interest from a plethora of clubs.
It hasn’t just been players coming in this summer, though, as highly-rated Croatian youngster Luka Vuskovic looks set for a move to Brighton that could be worth around £50m, including add-ons.

The youngster enjoyed an impressive loan spell at the Bundesliga outfit Hamburg last season. Vuskovic asked for the move, as he sees a move to Brighton as his chance to play regular first-team football.
Second big-name player to leave Newcastle
Tonali will be the second big-name player to leave Newcastle this summer after the departure of England international winger Anthony Gordon to Spanish champions Barcelona earlier this summer.
Newcastle are in talks with German club Hoffenheim over a move for Ivory Coast international winger Bazoumana Toure. The youngster is likely to be the first of several signings, as Newcastle look to build for next season.
The Magpies were reported to have made a bid for Tottenham’s Archie Gray, but both clubs have denied that the north east club have made a move for the young midfielder.
