Talks held for another Tottenham signing – report

Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing La Liga starlet Pau López from Espanyol.

The 21-year-old 6ft 2in goalkeeper has already played 38 times for the Spanish club since he graduated from the youth set up in 2014.

His move may be as a result of the injury to Tottenham’s number one Hugo Lloris but the report states that the move is unrelated and that Spurs have been looking at the young stopper for some time.

And Sky Sports report that:

Tottenham are interested in Espanyol’s young goalkeeper Pau Lopez, according to Sky sources.

Reports in Spain have claimed the clubs have even held talks over a potential loan deal, with the view to a permanent move.

Tottenham have been underwhelming to some in the transfer market this summer but TFF feels that they have done excellent business with the captures of Victor Wanyama and Vincent Jansson.

Both will make a serious case to be starters in the first team over the coming months and both already have started their Tottenham careers in determined and promising fashion.

But the addition of another keeper may be vital as cover for Michel Vorm with Hugo Lloris out for a substantial period at the crucial start of the season in a campaign which promises to be fiercely contested.

Spurs can’t afford to get off to a slow start if they want to end up in the top four again come May. So perhaps we should expect another couple of signings before September.

As Mauricio Pochettino said this week:

“We hope to sign one, two or three players – or maybe no one. It depends on many things that will happen. We will try to find some players to sign.”

Let’s see Pau López in action for Espanyol.
