We usually opine that there is seldom smoke without fire in the transfer market.
Of course there is a lot of hype and rubbish in the tabloids but when stories continually reappear in the papers there is usually some substance to the speculation.
And the latest news cycle brings the reemergence of Tottenham and Ross Barkley.
British media outlet, The Evening Standard, reports:
Tottenham continue to follow Ross Barkley’s contract negotiations at Everton with interest.
Barkley started his career with such great promise but he hasn’t really grasped the Everton team by the scruff of the neck as a player of this talent should be doing by now.
But TFF saw him play against Manchester United recently and he has definitely added maturity to his game.
Barkley has ostensibly been around for ages but he’s still only 23 years of age and surely has the best years of his career ahead of him.
TFF has always been a big fan of his qualities and feel that he ticks all of the boxes to be a really top footballer. He is two-footed, has real vision in his game, and can do the unpredictable things brilliantly. He is powerful strong and athletic and if Mauricio Pochettino can get the best out of this player on a weekly basis we could be talking about one of the true stars of the Premier League over the next few years.
Tottenham didn’t really make any high-profile signings last summer. The likes of Sissoko and Janssen are more workmanlike than stellar.
But the addition of Barkley could bring real magic and creativity to the Tottenham midfield next season as they look for improvement in the Champions League.
Tottenham fans – would this be a perfect signing?
