Tottenham: No deal for forward insists club

Tottenham have not yet got their hands on Portuguese winger Bruma, according to his club.

Tottenham have been heavily linked with the 22-year-old winger for over a year with some reports suggesting that a deal was actually in place for the transfer.

But those rumours have been scotched by the Galatasaray website (translated via The Daily Mail), who state that the player will get a:

‘100 per cent raise as a condition to sign a new contract with our club’.

‘there is no official offer to reach us, just as there is no secret agreement for the price [with] the club that has been named [Tottenham].’

Bruma – actual name Armindo Tué Na Bangna – has been a sensation in Turkey since moving from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in 2013 for around 10m Euros.

After a couple of loan spells in Turkey and Spain the winger settled in to the Gala side this season and has scored five goals and got three assists in just 14 games for the club.

It’s not just his ability to cut inside and score goals which excites. His overall play and propensity to dribble with the ball is often bewitching and the sense is that he would be a real crowd pleasing signing for Tottenham if it did come off.

But the sound bites coming out of the club would suggest that no deal is imminent.

Nevertheless, after a summer in which Spurs signed workmanlike players in 2016, many expect a couple of more exciting additions this summer. With Tottenham increasingly likely to be in the Champions League again, they will surely continue to attract some top talent.

But, for now, it appears that Bruma is beyond their reach.
