Tottenham open talks to sign powerful forward

With Karim Benzema not selected and Olivier Giroud as France’s main target man, many onlookers were surprised that the precociously talented Alexandre Lacazette was not selected for EURO 2106.

But their loss could be Tottenham’s gain as reports suggest that Mauricio Pochettino may sign a`well rested Frenchman for the new season.

British media outlet, The Daily Mirror states:

Tottenham have opened talks about a £30million move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Apparently there is a £6m difference in valuations between the buying and selling parties but Tottenham will have to be decisive if they want to beat off what will surely be fierce competition for the signature of the 25-year-old.

Despite his absence from France 2016 Lacazette has played ten times for France (1 goal) and hit 23 goals in 43 games last season. Add this to the 31 and 22 registered in the two previous seasons and it’s easy to see why the player has generated so much interest.

Quite where he would play, with Harry Kane a nailed-on starter for Spurs, is debatable. But with Champions League qualification confirmed, Spurs will need a deeper squad than ever to challenge for the title and have a decent run in Europe.

Here are some of Lacazette’s highlights. Spurs fans, would this be a decent use of the transfer kitty?
